Fenty Beauty.

If you pay any attention to the high end beauty world then I’m sure you are well aware of the new makeup line Rihanna has created: Fenty Beauty. The impressive line includes foundations, highlighters, contouring and highlighting sticks, brushes, a primer, lip glosses and even blotting papers. There was so much hype after the collection came out particularly because of the vast selection of foundation shades. (40 SHADES!!!) So I figured I should give it a try. Here are my thoughts:

Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation ($34)

I was only able to try two products from this line, but I definitely plan on trying more! The first thing I decided to try was the foundation since that was one of the products that provoked the most hype. I went with the shade 170. This foundation blended so nicely. It provided a really great matte finish that looked so natural. My initial though was just…WOW! It has a medium coverage, but looks very natural and real. It’s light, not sticky and doesn’t dry your skin out. However, there was one thing I didn’t love: After a few hours of wear this foundation had settled into my pores and lines. So, to prevent this I just use a pore minimizing primer when I wear this foundation from now on! Problem solved! The 1.08 oz bottle is $34. Not cheap, but for me this is a product I am willing to splurge on!

Match Stix Shimmering SkinStick ($25)

Rhianna put out both cream highlighters and powder highlighters. I opted for the the cream (stick) highlighter just because I had never tried a cream highlighter before. These Match Stix come in highlighter, contour and concealer shades and are meant to be used in a trio. They are magnetic so they will stick to one another which I think is super cool! I obviously only have on right now so I haven’t gotten to try out the innovative packaging, but I still find it very convenient. I got the shade Starstruck – and “Iced Out Pearl”. This highlighter stick didn’t go on as creamy as expected. It required some dabbing with a finger after swiped on in order to look natural. But that was stated in the application directions though, so no biggie. The directions also suggested swiping git on the back of your hand then applying it with your finger from there. This provided a much more subtle look. I’ve always been scared to try cream highlighters because I feel like they’ll swipe off my existing makeup, but that wasn’t a problem with this product. It seemed to go on very dry and I think that kept it from smudging off my previously applied makeup. The highlighting Match Stix are $25 and come in ten different shades.

I did get to try one of the powdered Kilowatt Freestyle Highlighters as well. I did not purchase it, but luckily I have awesome friends that let my try out their awesome finds. I wore the shade Trophy Wife which happens to be a Rihanna favorite. Trophy Wife is described as a “3D Hyper-Metallic Gold”. I had never tried and highlighter shade like this before. But it is so beautiful! Like I said, I’ve only tried this product once so I haven’t had the opportunity to play around with this yet. But I can tell you the shade Trophy Wife is beautiful and very bold and I’m sure the rest of the six shades are just as beautiful!

I really like both products and plan on purchasing more from this brand! I also expect to repurchase the foundation for sure because it has definitely become my favorite. These products aren’t cheap, thats a given. But I do feel confident in the quality of these products, which does justify the price for me. Both products along with the rest of the line can be purchased at Sephora or FentyBeauty.com. I highly congratulate Rihanna on this launch, she did a great job!

Hey there! I'm Abby. I'm just a blonde girl, with a blog, from a small town. I LOVE fashion and beauty and getting ready. And I am a firm believer in using clothing and makeup to highlight your best features, not mask them. I grew up dancing at a studio and on a team, and now I can't stop! (Thanks Mom). I love getting ready in the mornings and I love dressing to make myself feel good. It gives a certain sense of confidence that I love. I've started this blog with the intentions of sharing all my favorite things style and beauty with the hopes you'll love them too. I also want this blog to help other girls find what gives them confidence. Because there is nothing better than seeing a woman who KNOWS she looks good. Thanks for giving Girl With The Golden Locks a read! xoxo, abby
